John Holmes visits Menik Farm, praises resettlement

The United Nations Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs John Holmes today had praised the government of Sri Lanka for resettling a large portion of the 300, 000 internally displaced citizens in the North. He had made this comment whilst visiting the Menik Farm camp in Settikulam, Vavuniya this afternoon

The Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs had also visited the Kadirgamar, Arunachulam and Ananada Coomaraswamy relief villages in the North and said that he was pleased with the facilities offered to the citizens by the government of Sri Lanka.

John Holmes had been welcomed by Vavuniya Government Agent P.S.M Charles and the Vanni Security Forces Commander Major General Kamal Gunaratne. Yesterday Holmes visited Jaffna.
On his return to Colombo this evening Holmes had talks with Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama.
