IDPs reduced to 150,000

The number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) is now reduced to 150,000 from the original total number of 280,000.
Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Rishard Bathiudeen announced that the resettlement of nearly 50 percent of the IDPs to their former homes was a major success, reported Daily News.

The Minister further stated that the Ministry is making rapid progress in the resettlement process of the IDPs under the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in accordance with Northern Spring with the unstinted co-operation of Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, Senior Advisor to the President and the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force.
