Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella is the most prominent in his role as government Defence Spokesman. With the military operation to capture the territory held by the LTTE nearly drawing to a close, the remaining issue is the rescuing of Tamil civilians trapped in the No Fire Zone. According to the Minister, the military is not in a hurry to move into the stretch in order not to cause any harm to the civilians. He is quite confident that the LTTE will not be able to regroup militarily and there will be peace in Sri Lanka at least for a century or two. The Defence Spokesman also emphasised the necessity to make changes to the political system, in order to provide a lasting solution to the problem. Minister Rambukwella expressed these views in an interview with The Nation.
